About DeMarcus & The Starform
Learn About the Author Behind The Starform
Hey there, Star!
I’m DeMarcus, the mastermind behind it all. You’ll often hear me refer to myself as either the Protostar or the Starform Guide. Either way, I’ll always be here to help you brighten the Stars in your Constellation.
The Starform is your go-to resource for all things self-growth, productivity, and lifestyle design. On the blog, you’ll find posts full of inspiring and, more importantly, actionable advice that’ll encourage you to keep forming your Star.
My Journey: Where It All Started
For far too long, I lived a life I wasn’t comfortable living. I felt stagnant: nothing was changing, for better or worse. I kept searching for something worth living for, and each day, it felt harder and harder to do so.
If there’s something you’ve learned from my journey so far, it’s that you’ll eventually reach a breakthrough moment. A Supernova, if you will. That moment you finally listen to your inner self, someone desperately urging you to make a change.
So far, I’ve experienced 2 of them:
In 2022, I isolated myself as a junior in high school. I had been going to school in person for a year and I still had no friends. Sometimes I’d go an entire day without uttering a single word. And being shy only made matters worse, allowing some unknown creature to cast a vengeful spell on me. That was undoubtedly the most immense, most hauntingly savage spell of silence I’ve ever fallen victim to. And that? I long to never do again. That kind of wicked, creeping curse can feel like a thunderstorm: cold, dark, daring, abrupt, and persistent — a storm with no rainbow at the end. And I was eager to find my rainbow.
Thinking introspectively, I’m still learning to balance alone time and time with my loved ones. I’ve also accepted that not every day has to or will be extraordinary. That perfectly reflects the much-needed consistency and gratitude in my journey. And if I’m feeling extraordinary, I have the power and freedom to embrace it! I found something I’ll forever cherish and live for: this blog.
Then, in 2025, I hit rock bottom. I made goals I wanted to reach, routines I wanted to make, and habits I wanted to form. I was ready to make new friends, do well in school, move up at work, travel, read, save for school, take care of myself, grow my blog — all these goals I was so eager to achieve. Yet every light in my universe gradually dimmed like a Red Giant fading into complete darkness. I parted ways with my blog, maxed out all my credit cards, and left college. Months passed, and I thought: “I think I’ve hit rock bottom. How could things get worse from here?”
The answer to my question: they can’t. Through my blog, I feel a profound sense of optimism growing within me. I’m learning to escape my comfort zone and embrace the power of taking breaks. And looking back, I did grow — just not exactly how I planned. So, hitting rock bottom isn’t some loud, scary, powerful strike of lightning.Instead — like growth in whole — it’s quiet, gentle, and less destructive than it appears. ****A truly radiant, one-of-a-kind experience: that very moment you learn you can only rise to find your rainbow.
If you’ve fought (or are fighting) any battles like mine, you’re not alone. They aren’t fun, but they are formative. You can’t move onto the next phase of life without enduring chaos, instability, hardship, stunted growth, and uncertainty: all things a star endures in space.
With every Supernova, I’ve discovered myself more, gained a newfound love for myself, and grown a bit more — and that’ll always be worth living for.
My Purpose + Its Impact on You
A few years ago, if you’d asked me, “What’s your purpose?”, I wouldn’t have had a direct answer for you.
I’d genuinely pause, think for a bit, and honestly say, “I don’t know.”
Now, though, my purposes are revealing themselves to me. I have two: one for my life, and one for my blog.
In my life, I feel called to create, and to share those creations with others — no matter their reaction. With my blog, I feel chosen to guide others through their growth journeys.
I’m many things, but…
- not a blogger — I’m a Mentor.
- not a business owner — I’m a Strategist.
- not a content creator — I’m a Philosopher.
- not a know-it-all — I’m a Student.
- not just a writer — I’m the Story and the Storyteller.
Fun Facts About Me
These are purely fun, interesting facts about me.
I wanted to share something lighthearted and not so philosophical on this page. I love these because they allow you to get to know me better, which then helps you understand my content on a better level.
- I have an addictive personality. When I learn or discover something, I become temporarily addicted to it and have to explore every aspect of it — especially with music or your typical young adult discoveries like finances, hobbies, traveling, or personal growth.
- I love to write. Writing is by far my favorite method of communication and self-expression. Writing allows me to freely express myself in such a special, unique way. And as you’ll see throughout the blog, I’m unhealthily obsessed with em dashes (no, I didn’t steal them from ChatGPT), commas, humorous asides, parentheticals, and some really good storytelling.
- I don’t think I could live without music. It’s so universal and you there’s a song for literally every feeling, every mood, and every experience.
- My brother Calebb is a mini version of me. We’ve gone on 3 trips and attended 6 concerts together. That’s definitely my travel/concert buddy, and I’m glad I can take him on these adventures with me.
- Chick-fil-A is my favorite fast-food restaurant. They mainly serve chicken, which is perfect because that’s my favorite protein!
- I’ve been getting into matcha. I don’t care for straight matcha, but when you add brown sugar syrup and cold foam… oh, now you’re speakin’ my language!
- I’m super passionate about travel (specifically solo travel). Traveling is probably the best part about life. You get to try new foods, learn different languages, meet new people, admire nature — there are so many benefits to traveling. And doing it solo just takes it to a whole new level. I even made The Solo Solstice, an extension of The Starform, to share my love of solo travel.
- 4 is my favorite number in numerology. It represents discipline, structure, and stability — three traits that I’m personally working on. Oh, and it happens to be Queen Bey’s favorite number, too!
- It’s true: I’m a Libra. And yes, I’m painfully indecisive, passionately affectionate, and insanely introverted. I won’t tolerate any Libra slander here!
